Why a BookBub Author Profile Is Worth Claiming

The profile itself is the prerequisite. Without a verified Author Profile, none of the platform's promotional mechanisms alerts, ads, recommendations are available to you. The claim is free. Everything that follows it is where the value lies.

Free New Release Alerts

Every time you release a new ebook, BookBub automatically sends a dedicated email to all your followers alerting them to the new title at no cost. The more followers you accumulate, the more readers that email reaches on launch day.

Access to Promotional Tools

A claimed profile unlocks BookBub Ads, Preorder Alerts, and book recommendations the three additional mechanisms the platform makes available to partners. None of these are accessible without a verified profile.

Your Author Profile page on BookBub lists your books, displays your biography and photograph, and allows readers to follow you with a single click. BookBub readers who discover you through a deal or an ad can immediately become long term followers.

Step By Step

Claiming Your BookBub Author Profile

The process runs through the BookBub Partners platform at bookbub.com/partners Allow up to seven days for BookBub's team to review and approve the claim.

Go to BookBub Partners and create an account

Go to bookbub.com/partners and sign up with an email address and password. When completing the signup form, select your role as Author. This determines which dashboard and tools BookBub configures for your account. Each account is tied to a single author name pen names require separate accounts under separate email addresses.

Once your account is created, log in at partners.bookbub.com. The Partner Dashboard is your central interface for managing your Author Profile, monitoring follower counts, submitting books, and accessing the platform's promotional tools.

Search for your author name and submit a claim

From the dashboard, find the option to Claim an Author Profile. Search for your author name as it appears on your books. BookBub may have already generated a profile page for you based on your published titles. Submit the claim through the dashboard interface.

Await manual review

BookBub reviews all author profile claims manually, verifying identity and accuracy. This process takes up to seven business days. If your claim has not been actioned after a week, BookBub recommends contacting their support team directly. You do not need to resubmit the original claim remains active during review.

Add your books to the profile

Once approved, use the Add Book function in your dashboard to search for your titles by name, author, ASIN, or ISBN. Note that BookBub lists ebooks only print only titles cannot be added. Books must be available on at least one supported US retailer: Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, or Kobo. Verify that each listed book has the correct cover, description, categories, and retailer links. Mismatched metadata should be corrected before any promotional activity.

Complete your profile

Upload a clear author photograph and write a biography that accurately represents your work and genre. The biography is the first thing a browsing reader sees on your profile page. Keep it focused: genre, writing background, anything that helps a reader understand whether your books are for them. A concise call to action directing readers to follow you on BookBub for new release alerts can be effective in the final line.

The Follower System

BookBub's value to authors is built almost entirely around the follower relationship. Understanding how that relationship translates into promotional reach determines how strategically you use the platform.

New Release Alerts

Free. Sent automatically to all your US BookBub followers whenever you publish a new ebook. The book must be added to your Author Profile before, on, or within seven days of its release date. The alert includes your cover, a short description, and purchase links. Full length books, novellas, and box sets are all eligible. Re-releases and new box sets of previously published work do not qualify.

Preorder Alerts

Available once your follower count reaches 1,000. Cost: $0.02 per subscribed follower so an author with 1,000 followers pays $20, one with 5,000 pays $100. You can send up to two Preorder Alerts per title. Scheduling requires at least seven days' advance notice. These alerts are sent to US followers only and are particularly effective for driving awareness before launch week.

Featured Deal Alerts

When you run a BookBub Featured Deal a price promotion submitted to and accepted by BookBub's editorial team your followers also receive a dedicated email. Featured Deals are the platform's most competitive and most powerful promotional tool. Acceptance is selective and editorial. Your follower base makes each accepted deal more effective.

BookBub Ads

A display advertising platform targeting BookBub's readership by genre, reading preference, and author affinity. Ads appear in BookBub's daily deal emails and on the BookBub website. The system operates on a bidding model cost per click or cost per impression and is accessible to any verified author partner. Unlike Featured Deals, BookBub Ads do not require editorial selection and can be run at any time. They are the platform's primary tool for reaching readers who have not yet discovered your books.

Featured Deals

BookBub's flagship promotional product: a price promotion featured in a dedicated daily email sent to genre-targeted subscribers. Featured Deals are free to submit but cost money if accepted pricing varies by genre and discount depth, typically ranging from around $100 to nearly $4,000 for the most competitive categories. BookBub is selective. Acceptance rates are low. Books that have accumulated reviews, have professional covers, and have clear genre positioning stand the best chance. When accepted, a Featured Deal can drive hundreds to thousands of purchases in a single day, and significantly expand your follower base

Book Recommendations

Any claimed author can recommend books on BookBub both their own titles and books by other authors. Recommendations appear on your Author Profile and are shared with your followers. When a book you have recommended runs a live deal, BookBub emails your followers about it. Close to 50% of BookBub members say recommendations from authors they follow influence their reading decisions. Engaging genuinely with books in your genre is a low-effort way to remain visible to followers between releases.

Follower Count Tracking

Your Partner Dashboard displays your current follower count though this figure is not shown publicly on your Author Profile page. Monitoring follower growth provides a direct measure of your expanding reach on the platform. Follower count is the single number that determines the scale of your free New Release Alerts, the cost and eligibility of Preorder Alerts, and the potential impact of any Featured Deal you run.

Chirp — BookBub's Audiobook Platform

Chirp is BookBub's companion service for audiobooks, offering discounted audiobook deals to a dedicated listener audience. If your books have audiobook editions, Chirp offers a separate promotional channel worth exploring independently of your main BookBub Author Profile.

Platform Notes

Limitations and Rules Worth Knowing Before You Start

BookBub operates under constraints that affect eligibility and reach. Understanding them before you begin saves time and avoids misplaced expectations.

Ebook Only

BookBub lists ebooks only on Author Profiles. Print-only titles cannot be added. For a book to appear on your profile, it must be available as an ebook on at least one supported US retailer: Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, or Kobo.

US-Focused Alerts

New Release Alerts and Preorder Alerts are currently sent to US BookBub members only. BookBub members in the UK, Canada, and Australia can follow authors and will receive alerts for Featured Deals in their region, but not for new releases or preorders. This is an important distinction if your primary market is outside the US.

Pen Names Require Separate Accounts

Each pen name must be managed through a separate BookBub Partners account with its own email address. Unlike Amazon Author Central, BookBub does not support multiple author profiles under a single login. If you write under multiple names, plan for a separate account per name from the outset.

Featured Deal Eligibility Rules

Books can only be featured in a BookBub Featured Deal once every six months. The same author cannot be promoted through a Featured Deal more than once every 30 days. Newly released books are unlikely to be accepted for a Featured Deal the editorial team looks for accumulated reviews, strong cover design, and clear genre positioning.
